I have a 1989 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L Vulcan, so about 140 Horsepower brand new and 160 Torque, with a 4 speed Automatic with an Over Drive. It has 92′500 miles on it, and climbing since its my car I drive to high school, and all around town. I recently did a tune up on it. I changed the spark plugs, to platinum ones, good for 75′000 miles. New Rotor, fuel filter, I cleaned the air filter, a KNN one by the way, and ran fuel injector cleaner in it in mid August or 2009. I put Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner in it always. I also, around mid October of 2009, disabled the fuel system, and had help from my auto shop teacher to hook up a can of injector cleaner to the car, so that’s all the car ran on. I recently, about 3 weeks ago, put another thing of lucas fuel injector cleaner in the car. What I do is I put the cleaner in, at the gas station, right before I fill the tank, completely. I did the mileage, and I had got around 14 MPG. 50 miles of that was on the freeway, 70 MPH. Not very much was from warming up, and the rest was in town mileage. My sister did some driving, and yes shes a bit hard on the pedal, but nothing way out of whack, uses the pedal a bit more than me and she only drove it for maybe 20 miles, out of the total 145.1 that I got on this tank. The rest I did. I wouldn’t say I drive like a granny, but I don’t drive like a bad out of hell either. I could learn to take off from stops a bit easier, but I just drive the car the way it should be I think. Is there anything else I can do to increase my mileage?

So today I took my test and I thought I drove pretty good, deserved to pass – like most everyone thinks I’m sure. I had one noticeable mistake, making too wide a turn (ONCE!), but the guy said I did it wrong like 5 times, so I got 5 points off for that. And then a bunch of other stuff which I felt was undeserved. I got 19 Points wrong, but I feel pretty sure I could pass now that I know what to expect.
Would someone please help me and/or give me some tips?
Very much appreciated, as I’m feeling like crap right now (considering it’s my birthday and everyone else there passed).

I just got a new car with manual transmission…i’ve been driving an automatic for about 7 years (i’m 23)….
I know it comes down to when i feel comfortable, but i’m up at school paying for an empty parking spot and left the car at home ( about an hour away). Trying to plan out trips home just to practice.
Drove around for about 4 hours all together the first day. Last 2 hours i pretty much got the stop and go down on level roads….still a little bit jerky, but no stalls or spinning out the tires.
reverse is a bit "scary", but sorta have it down.
Biggest problem is my start from a hill. The road is about a 60% grade leaving my house and it takes me about 4 minutes to finally get onto the road….stall a lot.
I tried a lesser sloped road….Takes me about 4 seconds using the emergency brake and an occasional stall.
Definitely will run into a stop sign / traffic on a hill up here at school.
Think once i get the hill thing down i should be good??
And what would your time estimate be on that.
I think i know an empty parking lot with a steep hill into a second section of the lot. I’m more than happy to sit there for 2-3 hours just practicing it.
String is normally 2 inches…give or take a few 1/16ths. Too much longer and its a torn piece of cloth or rope.

I’m seriously going to loose it with my parents. I’m on Summer holidays, and I’ve been working part time on Saturday’s and through the weeks to earn money. I work hard at school all year, and everyday I tidy round the house and do the dishwasher as like, an automatic thing without even being asked. But every single day they ring up and give me another 3 or 4 chores to do. It’s really bugging me, as I always feel under pressure to have to be doing something – like I can’t just chill in my own home. Then if I don’t do a chore, or I haven’t done it by the time they are home, they make out as if I’m really bad. If I go out before they’ve called, they call my mobile and sound really angry that I’ve gone out before being told to do something. I’ve tried to explain that I just want some freedom, I don’t want to feel under pressure to do chores every single day – that’s not what Summer is about. My friends don’t get the same, but my parents just can’t get this into their heads. HELP?

Will be moving to Seymour TN in mid December from the UK. No previous driving experience and need to learn fast! Does anyone know a driving school in the Seymour/Knoxville area? Or if a local high school do lessons? Any info on price would be highly appreciated?
Thanks

So I am looking to get into the commercial trucking business, but I have no idea how to drive a commercial truck. I believe I would be needing a Class A license to operate one. I know I can secure a permit via a written test, but the actual license involves a road test. So here is my dilemma, I have never driven a semi, nor a manual transmission for that matter. I have driven automatic transmissions my whole life. So, the answer to my problem is going to a trucking instructing school. However, the majority that I look at say that you need to know how to drive a manual transmission already. Does anyone know of a GOOD trucking school around the Atlanta, GA area that teaches you everything from scratch (ie learning how to shift and operate a manual transmission)? Any information is helpful! Thank you!

today on my way to school my car started to drive weird, when i went to hit the gas the transmission didn’t seem to want to change gear and took awhile to gain speed. i put the transmission from automatic to sport and drove it manually and it works fine when i change the gear, what can i do to fix it? i hope i don’t have to replace it.
the car does idle high, put it been like that before the transmission started acting up
